Toni Jean (DeLorenzo) McGill

Toni Jean (DeLorenzo) McGill, 59, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at home with family members by her side after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Winamac, on Nov. 30, 1955, to the late Charles “Red” and Donna DeLorenzo.

She was a 1973 graduate of Winamac Community High School. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years starting at RTC Orlando, Florida, A and C School as a Cryptologic Technician Technical (CTT). She then was stationed at U.S. Naval Security Group Activity in Edzell, Scotland. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, she lived in Charleston, South Carolina, for a number of years before moving to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where she worked in the accounting department of Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner theater, later transferring to the Dixie Stampede location in Branson, Missouri. Upon moving to Houston, Texas, in 1998, she was hired by the Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration and worked there for 17 years prior to her passing.

She is survived by her daughter Sonya [Andy] Brownlee of Ridgeville, South Carolina; sons: Robert [Kimberly] McGill of Houston, Texas, and Ryan [Sandra] McGill of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters: Michael [Maria] DeLorenzo of Stafford, Virgina, Mary Huff-Campbell [Paul] of Muncie, Teresa DeLorenzo of Spring, Texas, Brian [Pat] DeLorenzo of Winamac, Bette Dusenbury of Spring, Texas, David [Penny] DeLorenzo of Winamac; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Red” and Donna DeLorenzo; and grandson Wyatt Matthew Brownlee.

Services were held on Nov. 1 at Klein Funeral Home in Cypress, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Toni J. McGill.
