Thomas E. Freeman

April 4, 1935 — Feb. 3, 2018

Thomas E. Freeman, 82, of New Whiteland, passed away Feb. 3. 

He was born to the late Denzil and Imogene (Lane) Freeman on April 4, 1935, in Winamac. In 1955, Thomas enlisted into the U.S. Navy. After returning home, he married his sweetheart, Sandy Moody, in 1960. Thomas went to work for RCA as a draftsman. He worked for them for 33 years, retiring in 1996. Thomas enjoyed a good game of golf. He loved to go fishing and pick strawberries at the strawberry patch. He was very skillful with woodworking. Thomas loved to spend his winters down in Florida. However, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Thomas leaves behind a loving wife Sandy Freeman of New Whiteland; children: Jeanie Freeman of New Whiteland, Lori [Ron] Haarmann of York, Nebraska, and Julie [Donnie] Rodgers of Whiteland; sister Joan [Mac] Byer of Knox; brothers: John Freeman, Carl Freeman and Jerry Freeman, all of Winamac; grandchildren; Alex [Natalie] Freeman, Abby Haarmann, Shelby [Steven Nix] Skinner, Kyle Haarmann, Lucy Haarmann and Keelie [Josh Schmidt] Rodgers; and great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Willow, Brycen, Tanner, and one on the way.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers: Wilbur and Willard Freeman; and a sister Ruth Freeman. 

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m. with services immediately following at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and to Brooksdale Hospice.
