Steven D. Alma

Feb. 12, 1953 — July 25, 2015

Steven D. “Maddog” Alma, 62, of Royal Center, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 25, at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Born on Feb. 12, 1953, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Hoover) Alma.

Steve was a 1971 Pioneer High School graduate.

On Aug. 14, 1971, he married Deloris “Lorie” Newell.

Steve retired in 2004 from NIPSCO after 33.5 years. He was also a farmer.

He was a member of Caley and White Oak United Methodist churches. He was also a member of SOAR and he enjoyed fishing and going to concerts. He was an avid fan of Herman’s Hermits featuring Peter Noone, and Tommy James and the Shondells. Steve also enjoyed playing Santa at Christmas time, traveling, going to breakfast at McDonald’s, drinking coffee with his retired NIPSCO friends and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Deloris “Lorie” Alma of Royal Center; daughter Karrie [Tim] Barber of Logansport; son Keith [Ashley] Alma of Royal Center; brother Randy [Trena “Jeanie”] Alma of Royal Center; and grandchildren: Courtney Barber and Tyler Barber both of Logansport, and Lincoln Alma and Jon Alma both of Royal Center.

Visitation was 4 to 9 p.m., Friday, July 31, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel. Services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel. Pastor Doris Smith officiated. Burial took place at Pro Cemetery, Headlee.
