Ruth Fay Budd

Ruth Fay Budd, 91, of Greencroft in Goshen, a lifelong resident of Pulaski County, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 4. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. 

Ruth was born on Oct. 12, 1929, in Winamac, to the late Joseph and Fay (Agnew) Smith. She graduated from Winamac High School in 1948. On March 31, 1957, Ruth married the love of her life, Harold W. Budd. He passed away on May 24, 2018. Ruth worked alongside her husband at Budd Insurance Agency for many years.

Ruth was an active member of the Pulaski Presbyterian Church for many years. Later in life, she returned to the Winamac United Methodist Church, where she had attended as a youth. As a member of the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, she was a volunteer Pink Lady and assisted with the home installation of Life Line devices. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives. Ruth was a 4-H Leader for the Indian Creek Busy Bees and a member of the Happy Homemakers Home Economics Club and Pulaski County Extension Chords. She also sang in a women’s barbershop singing group known as Silver Tones. 

Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughters: Susan E. Budd of Ft. Wayne, Linda K. [Bruce] Wells of Nappanee, and Laura F. Horning of Goshen; son David W. [Karen] Budd of Winamac; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Fay (Agnew) Smith; sisters: Elaine Ellis and Loraine Egleston; and brothers: Emmett Smith and Roger Smith. 

Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Private funeral services will be held at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Bruce Wells officiating. Private burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer International or the Memorial Swinging Bridge Project.
