Russell H. “Russ” Batchelor Sr.

Jan. 13, 1944 — Aug. 1, 2016

Russell H. “Russ” Batchelor Sr., born on Jan. 13, 1944, in Brazil, Indiana, died peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 1. 

Russ was a truck driver for more than 30 years and married the love of his life, Shirley Turner, on Valentine’s Day in 1986. Shirley and Russ were married for 30 years and decided to retire in Winamac in 2009. 

Survivors include his wife Shirley A. (Turner) Batchelor of Winamac; daughters: Kimberly [Lonie] Jordan of Houston, Texas, Karen [Jesse] Shidler of Ripley, Dawn [Roman] Jachim of Clarksville, Tennessee, Christine Batchelor of Knox, Eva [Jim] Addison of Katy, Texas, Julie [Chris] Irvin of Youngsville, Lousiana, and Jeania [Mike] Taylor of Ora; sons: Kelly Batchelor of Crosby, Texas, Russell H. [Lisa] Batchelor Jr. of Crosby, Texas, Charles [Michelle] Meaux of Winamac, Johnny “Dino” [Jessica] Meaux of Lafayette, Lousiana; 27 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Ricky [Reggie] Batchelor of Brazil,  Jimmy [Margaret] Batchelor of Brazil, Melvin [Deb] Batchelor Jr. of Wolcott; sister Elaine Lave of Beaverville, Illinois, Sandra Shepard of Beaverville, Illinois, and Brenda [Fred] Moore of Brazil; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin B. Batchelor Sr. and Clara Mae (Yards) Batchelor; son Kevin Batchelor; infant grandson Drake Taylor; and brother Larry Batchelor. 

No services will be held.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary, Winamac.
