June 9, 1948 — June 8, 2016

Robert Kenneth Fransen, 67, of Pulaski, passed away at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at St. Vincent Hospital 86th St. in Indianapolis.

He was born June 9, 1948, in Harvey, Illinois, to Kenneth and Edith (Tysen) Fransen. 

Robert was married to Patricia J. Miller in 1980. Pat died Jan. 21, 2003.

Bob worked as an assembler at Ford Motor Co. in Chicago, for 30 years.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Bob enjoyed building model cars, rebuilding cars and attending car shows. He especially loved everything about pre-1964 cars. Bob was active in the Romin’ Chariots car club with his son Philip. He often raced at Raceway Park and raced his Mustang “Phony Pony” at U.S. 30 drag strip as a young man. 

Bob enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW in Winamac. 

Survivors include his daughter Jennifer [Jeffrey] Gallus of Matteson, Illinois; son Kenneth J.C. Fransen of Knox; stepson Robert Edward Piontek of Winamac; grandchildren: Ryan Hopkins, Jessica Fransen, Kevin Fransen, Christine Fransen and Haley Rugg; brother Daniel [Kristine] Fransen of Midlothian, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his son Philip John Fransen; parents Kenneth Donald and Edith Elizabeth (Tyson) Fransen; wife Patricia J. (Miller) Fransen; and sisters: Betty Jean Luecke, Barbara Worthington and Melody Fransen. 

Visitation was from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Frain Mortuary. A celebration of life was at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Cremation followed services. The VFW and American Legion conducted military rites at the funeral home following services.

Memorial contributions may be given to VFW Post 1728 Winamac.
