Robert “Bob” Vollmer

Robert Vollmer, formerly of Francesville, passed away peacefully at his residence in Fishers, on Dec. 24, 2019.

Bob was born May 2, 1924, to Fred L. Vollmer and Eva Mae Salrin in Hebron. He lived most of his life in Francesville and Medaryville. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving three years in the 66th Panther Infantry Division. A year and a half of his service was spent in the European Theater Operations.

He was married to Helen (Wendt) Vollmer on Sept. 1, 1943. They shared life together for 76 years. Bob had a construction company in Francesville for many years. He built and remodeled many homes in that area. 

He will be greatly missed by his wife and family: Denise [Dave] Neff of Montpelier, Janice [Don] Partlow of Lafayette and Mark [Bonnie] Vollmer of Westfield; grandchildren: Jenny [Olivier Delers] Neff of Richmond, Virginia, Melissa [JR] Rees of McDonough Georgia, Sara [Jack] Feliciano of Noblesville, Andrea [Craig] Blissitt of Brookston, Joshua [Casey] Vollmer of Anna, Texas, Jacob Vollmer of Richardson, Texas, Trenton [Ondraa] Hall of Lafayette, Jeremy [Megan] Vollmer of Arvada, Colorado, and James [Alli] Vollmer of Charlotte, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren; brother Fred Vollmer Jr.; and sister Ruth Anne Vollmer. 

Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a celebration of life service following at approximately 2 p.m. at St. James Salem United Church of Christ on Jan. 4. The church address is 10934 W. CR 600 S., Francesville.

Memorials may be made to St. James Salem United Church of Christ.
