Rick Wallace

March 4, 1954 — Dec. 14, 2018

Rick Wallace, 64, of Winamac, passed away at 2:23 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac following a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on March 4, 1954, in Winamac, to the late Theodore and Rosanna Wallace. Rick graduated from Winamac High School in 1972. He was employed as a truck driver for Krulik Trucking LLC.

Rick was previously a deputy for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and a patrolman for the Winamac Police Department. W-4 was incredibly proud of the time he spent on the force, and the dear friends he made along the way. He also served on the Star City Volunteer Fire Department.

Rick was an outdoorsman and enjoyed shooting, camping, fishing and gardening. He loved spending time on the Tippecanoe River kayaking and canoeing, road tripping and traveling with friends and his love, Sally, and being an amazing, fun-loving, epic claw-giving Pop Pop to his nine grandchildren. He was a proud member of the NRA.

Rick loved his family and friends, and his smile and kind demeanor will be missed and mourned forever. Rick was quiet, but when he spoke, people listened. He loved cold beer, free beer, and reminding his loved ones to check their tire pressure and change their oil. Rick’s siblings remember him as the one who could talk them into anything.

He is survived by his companion Sally Schultz of Winamac; sons: Toby Wallace of Indianapolis, and Jacob [Kayla] Wallace of Hannibal, Missouri; daughter Katie Ohning of Noblesville; grandchildren: Merica, Trenton and Graham Wallace, Cannon, Gatlin and Rayanna Wallace, and Ben, Caroline and Sadie Ohning; brothers: Les [Donna] Wallace of Star City, and Tommy Wallace of Star City; sister Chris [Randie] Kopkey of Leesburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Rosanna (Faye) Swope Wallace.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Burial will take place at Star City West Cemetery in Star City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
