Richard D. “Dick” Keller

Richard D. “Dick” Keller, 95, lifelong farmer from Monterey, died on Friday, Nov. 20, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. 

Dick was born on June 20, 1925, in Monterey, to the late Edmond and Dora (Keitzer) Keller. He attended Holy Family School in Monterey through the eighth grade and graduated from Monterey High School. Dick served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. On Nov. 27, 1948, he married the love of his life, Monna Lou Vanscoyk. She died June 15, 2005. 

Dick was a lifelong active member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey. He was a member of the Monterey American Legion Post #399. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his daughters: Sister Rebecca S. Keller of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Judith A. [Peter] Sanders of Ft. Myers, Florida, Victoria L. [John] Bean of Geneseo, Illinois, Amanda L. Goldner of Fishers, Teresa J. [Tony] Kasten, of Winamac, and Lisa J. Reidelbach of Winamac; son Edward E. Keller of Monterey; granddaughters: Heidi [Steve] Sedaros, Jennifer [Brian] Williams, Mary [Marco] Bean, Jill [fiancé: Michael Adair] Kasten, and Brandy [David] Gray; grandsons: Rick Sanders, Brian [Lisa] Sanders, William [Brittany] Bean, Jeremy Kasten and Wyatt Reidelbach; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Dora (Keitzer) Keller; wife Monna Lou (Vanscoyk) Keller; infant son Henry Keller; son-in-law Tim Reidelbach; brother Phillip Keller; sister Margaret Schmidt; and infant brother Raymond Keller.

A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey. Rev. Andrew DeKeyser officiated. Burial took place at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Monterey. The American Legion conducted military graveside services.
