Rebecca Sue “Becky” Schultz

Aug. 3, 1944 — April 14, 2019

Rebecca Sue “Becky” Schultz, 74, of Indianapolis, formerly Star City, passed away Sunday, April 14, at her daughter’s home. 

Becky was born on Aug. 3, 1944, in Marion, to the late Kenneth A. and Kathryn R. (Hull) Groom Jr. She spent her childhood in Swayzee, and graduated from Swayzee High School. Becky met her future husband Timothy C. “Tim” Schultz while visiting and working at Groom’s Drugstore in Star City. On Jan. 26, 1964, Becky and Tim were married in Swayzee. He passed away on May 5, 2006. 

Most of their life was spent farming. They also owned and operated the Indian Head Restaurant in Winamac for many years. Becky was well known for her cooking and enjoyed browsing through recipe books. She enjoyed watching and supporting her sons and grandsons play football. Becky was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be sadly missed. 

She is survived by her sons: Troy [Hollie] Schultz of Culver, and Todd [Susan] Schultz of Star City; daughter Amy [Mark] Cleary of Indianapolis; grandsons: Tucker Dane [fiance Carly Baker] Schultz, Levi John Schultz, Tristan Cole Schultz, Maverick John Schultz, Lucas Henry Clark and  Logan John Schultz; granddaughter Tatum Elizabeth [Caleb] Herrema; sisters-in-law Gay [John] McWhorter and Peggy [Gary] Yeary; mother-in-law Dorothy E. (Fritz) Schultz Nice; brothers-in-law: Michael [Cynthia] Schultz and Douglas [Patricia] Schultz; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth A. and Kathryn R. (Hull) Groom Jr.; husband Timothy C. “Tim” Schultz; and brother Kenneth A. Groom III. 

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, April 20, at Star City West Cemetery. Burial will take place at Star City West Cemetery in Star City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Winamac Community High School Athletic Fund or Culver High School Athletic Fund.
