Raymond W. “Ray” Daugherty Jr.

Raymond W. “Ray” Daugherty Jr., 79, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, in Jenks, Oklahoma. 

He was born on Nov. 28, 1942, in Winamac to the late Raymond W. and Betty (Ricks) Daugherty Sr. Ray did not graduate high school, but instead he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War as a Seabee. He was a lifelong truck driver and enjoyed attending antique tractor pulls. He was an avid collector of two cylinder tractors, but especially enjoyed his John Deere tractors. Ray will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his daughter Tina [Steve] Brown of Monticello; sons: Jim [Pam] Daugherty of Plymouth and Curt [Bunnie] Daugherty of Star City; daughter Leah Gannon of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandsons: Mark [Alyssa] Brown of Delphi and Steve [Katlin Berkshire] Brown of Royal Center; granddaughters: Brandi [Bobby] Lewark of Francesville, Heather [Danny Randolph] Daugherty of Francesville, and Courtney [Brandon] Daugherty of Francesville; grandchildren: Rylee Daugherty of Winamac, Natasha Daugherty of Logansport, Brooke [Luke] Rudicel of Rochester, Maximus Gannon, of Weston, Oregon, Megan Nelson, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Andrea Marinakis of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Iona Collins; step-sister Kathy Roby; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond W. and Betty (Ricks) Daugherty Sr.; former spouse Joan (Weaver) Daugherty; and wife Susan (Harrelson) Daugherty.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services. 

Burial will follow at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Swinging Bridge Project or American Cancer Society.
