Raymond D. “Ray” Williams

Raymond D. “Ray” Williams, 50, of Medaryville, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Franciscan Health Center, Lafayette. 

On October 3, 1968, Ray was born in Gary. He was the treasured son of Kenneth R. and Juanita E. (Malott) Williams. Growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters, Deborah and Trena. In 1986 Ray graduated from West Central High School.

With a taste for speed, Ray enjoyed building slot car tracks and racing. He also owned some gas-powered remote control cars. Ray loved go-kart racing and was skilled with tinkering with go-kart engines and other small engine repairs.

Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his father Kenneth [Barbara] Williams of Hammond; two sisters: Deborah [Russell] Alexander of Yantis, Texas, and Trena [William] Werner of Canton, Ohio; companion Linda Lewark of Medaryville; children Candice Lewark and Daniel Lewark; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Ray in death are his grandparents; and beloved mother, Juanita Williams, on Feb. 21, 1993.

A celebration of the life of Raymond “Ray” Williams was held Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. Burial followed in Rochester’s IOOF Cemetery.
