Randy D. Bennett

June 9, 1960 — Nov. 29, 2022

Randy D. Bennett, 62, of Francesville, went home to be with his family in Heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 29.  He passed away following an eight month battle with cancer. 

Randy was born on June 9, 1960, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to the late Richard and Shirley (Simpkins) Bennett.  He moved to Indiana as a child and attended Hebron Elementary School. Randy graduated from Kankakee Valley High School. On Feb. 14, 1995, he married Linda S. (Clark) Owens in Winamac. She survives.

Over the years, Randy had been employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Valparaiso, Westville Correctional Facility in Westville, Wabash National in Lafayette and Vulcan Stone Quarry in Francesville. He retired from Lehigh Hanson Materials in Francesville. Randy was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local #150 in Countryside, Illinois.

He served on the Medaryville Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Randy enjoyed woodworking and fishing as well as painting and drawing. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and Purdue Basketball. Most of all, Randy loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Linda S. (Clark) Bennett of Francesville; sons: Timothy [Jodie] Bennett of Wheatfield and Sean [Jennifer] Owens of Francesville; grandsons: Brice Schultz and Cameron [Brittany] Owens; granddaughters: Emily Bennett, Wendy Bennett and Isabelle Harris; brother-in-law Randall Pierce; sisters-in-law: Barbara (Clark) Kapraun and Pat [Jeff] (Clark) Barngrover; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; aunt Naomi (Bennett) Mann and numerous cousins.

Preceded in death by parents: Richard and Shirley (Simpkins) Bennett; daughter Chastity Nicole “Chas” Bennett; son Christopher Owens; sister Marie Annette (Bennett) Pierce; infant sister Dawn Marie Bennett; and brothers-in-law: Clarence Kapraun and Joseph T. Clark.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 5 at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.  

Entombment took place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.

In lieu of flowers, food and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Burn Camp or Medaryville Volunteer Fire Department.
