Phyllis Jean Fugate

June 21, 1933 – Dec. 18, 2015

Phyllis Jean Fugate, 82, of Winamac, passed away at 6:29 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18,  at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.

She was born June 21, 1933, in Carmi, Illinois, to Gilbert and Velma Collins Hutchcraft. 

Phyllis married George R.  Fugate on April 5, 1953, in Winamac. He survives.

Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac and the United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker and had worked as a floral designer at the former Bonnell Flower Shop in Winamac. Phyllis enjoyed baking and caring for others. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband George Fugate of Winamac; daughters Theresa [Paul] Davis of Indianapolis and Pamela Crum of Indianapolis; son Gilbert Fugate of West Lafayette; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Steven [Tiffany] Davis and daughters Kennedy and Addisyn,  Amy [Brad] Johnson and sons Quinn and Camden, Robert Davis, Catharine Crum, Jaimee Crum, and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters Francis [Cosimo] Cira of Logansport, Jane [Daniel] Casey of South Carolina and Joan Irion of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her father Gilbert Hutchcraft; mother Velma Idola Collins Hutchcraft Morris; daughter Debra Jean Fugate; and stepbrother Howard Morris.

Visitation was 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Frain Mortuary. Pastor Dave Marty officiated. Private burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church Youth Group.
