Phyllis J. Rankin

April 3, 1926 — Dec. 2, 2016

Phyllis J. Rankin, 90, of Winamac, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver. 

She was born on April 3, 1926, in Mason City, Illinois, to the late Carl B. Loris and Burdene (Parr) Null. On Dec. 1, 1946, she married Richard G. Rankin in Pekin, Illinois. Richard died Aug. 23, 1983.

Phyllis enjoyed walking and watching TV. She also enjoyed fishing trips with her family. Phyllis loved her pets. She and her husband had been owners of the Crossroads Market at SR 14 and SR 39 in Winamac.

She is survived by daughters: Sandra [James] Smith of Plymouth, and Suzann Smith of Plymouth; son Gerald “Jerry” [Alice] Rankin of Winamac; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; six sisters; and two brothers. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard G. Rankin; parents Carl B. Loris and Burdene (Parr) Null; grandson Jerry Joe Rankin; one brother; and one sister. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services will held at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
