Phyllis J. Nufer

Nov. 19, 1931 — July 14, 2017

Phyllis  J. Nufer, 85, of Winamac, passed away at 12:46 a.m. Friday, July 14, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.  

Phyllis was born on Nov. 19, 1931, in Star City, to the late Clinton and Esther (Schultz) Drach. On Feb. 9, 1957, she married Joseph R. Nufer. He passed away March 4, 2004.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She had worked in the dietary department of Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She had also worked as a cleaner at the former Winamac Cleaning and Laundry.

Phyllis was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and had been active in the Christian Mother’s.  

She enjoyed automobile racing and trips to Las Vegas. Phyllis also enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by her sister Betty [JD] Danford of Star City; brother Donald [Gloria] Drach of Winamac; nieces and nephews: Ronda Denney, Cindy Rife, Diana Farris, Donald Drach, Debby Drach, Doug Drach and Dixie Weldon; and several great-nieces and nephews. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Esther (Schultz) Drach; husband Joseph R. Nufer; and sister Pauline Drach. 

Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Monday, July 17, at Frain Mortuary. A scriptural wake service was held at 7 p.m. immediately followed by a rosary service. A funeral mass was at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 18, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac. Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiated. Burial took place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.
