Patricia J. “Patty” Powers

Patricia J. “Patty” Powers, 92, of Winamac, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver. 

Patty was born on Feb. 20, 1927, in Winamac, to the late Daniel S. and Martha (Hood) White. She graduated from Star City High School in 1945. On Nov. 27, 1948, Patty married Thomas R. Powers. He passed away on Feb. 13, 1995. Patty worked as a secretary for many years at Rice Corporation and Gast & Shurn. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. 

She is survived by her sons: Michael T. Powers and Timothy M. [Elaine] Powers; granddaughters: Erin [Nick] Bourff and Alison Powers; great-grandson Clive Bourff; great-granddaughter Emily Bourff; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel S. and Martha (Hood) White; husband Thomas R. Powers; infant son David Powers; sister Mary Ann [Bill] Planck; brother Don R. [Norine] White; infant brother Richard Daniel White; and nephew Douglas A. White. 

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac. Rev. Jeffery Martin officiated. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Center for Hospice Care.
