Patricia “Patty” A. O’Donnell

March 17, 1937 — Aug. 27, 2021

Patricia “Patty” A. O’Donnell, 84 of Goodland, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. 

She was born on March 17, 1937, in Monterey to the late Clement V. and Marjorie M. (Prendergast) Keller Sr. Patty graduated from Holy Family School in 1951 and Monterey High School in 1955. She spent her life working as a registered nurse; having earned her degree from Holy Cross Central School of Nursing in 1958.  Patty worked for Dr. Eshelman in Monterey and then at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, where she retired after 20 years.  

On May 4, 1963, Patty married John William O’Donnell Sr. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey.  He passed away on April 27, 2006. Patty was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac as well as the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Pulaski County Genealogy Society. Patty was an active participant at the Von Tobel Senior Center in Winamac. 

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, painting, reading and landscaping. Most recently, Patty made pillow cases and quilts as keepsakes for her family members.  Patty dearly loved family reunions and winning BINGO. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Patty will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  

She is survived by her daughters: Judy [Vic] Heater of Winamac, Susie O’Donnell of Winamac and Maureen Inman of Goodland; sons: Pat [Cheryl] O’Donnell of Logansport and Ryan O’Donnell of Winamac; granddaughters: Dr. Amanda [Curt] Lords, Carolyn [Darron] Robinson, Leanne [John] Behny, Laura Bucinski, Rebecca Kopka, Angela [Scott] Compton, Jenny [Mike] Kasten, Alexandria Inman, Lauren [Brady] Edgar, and Kaitlin O’Donnell; grandsons: Michael [Dorri] O’Donnell, Jeff [Teressa] Garbison, Brian [Ashley] Crissinger, and Mackenzie O’Donnell; former daughter-in-law Michelle O’Donnell; brothers: Tom [Toni] Keller of Nappanee, Bob [Sheila] Keller of Monterey, Jim [Bertie] Keller of Monterey, Jerry [Rea] Keller of Monterey, Danny [Peggy] Keller of Culver; sisters: Ruth Zehner of Monterey, Mary Large Personette of Logansport, and Margie [Tim] Wise of Monterey; sisters-in-law: Colleen Keller of Winamac and Jean Keller of Monterey; numerous nieces and nephews; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Clement V. and Marjorie M. (Prendergast) Keller Sr.; husband John William O’Donnell Sr.; infant son Brian O’Donnell; sons: John William O’Donnell Jr. and Jim O’Donnell; grandson Sean O’Donnell; great-grandson Andrew Budd; daughters-in-law: Carolyn O’Donnell and Sharon O’Donnell; former daughter-in-law Elsie O’Donnell; former son-in-law Gary Inman; infant sister Sheila Keller; brothers: John Keller and Clem Keller Jr.; brothers-in-law: Don Zehner, James Large, and Gene Personette. 

Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

A scriptural wake service was held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. A Christian Mothers service and rosary service followed.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac with Rev. Daniel Shine officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.  

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Von Tobel Senior Center.
