Mildred Grace “Milly” Stoll

May 30, 1916 — Feb. 13, 2019

Mildred Grace “Milly” Stoll, 102, of Avilla, formerly of Medaryville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. 

She passed away peacefully in her sleep at 4:35 a.m. Milly was born on May 30, 1916, in Winamac, to the late Romie and Sylvia Grace (Poisel) Chamness. She married  Albert Joseph Stoll on June 5, 1938, in Winamac. He passed away on June 7, 1957. She successfully raised 11 children while living in her own home in Medaryville. In 1978, Milly moved from Medaryville to Avilla to live with her oldest daughter. 

Milly was a talented painter and guitarist. She enjoyed crafting, especially crewel work, embroidery and crocheting. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. 

Milly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son Bob Stoll of Avilla; daughters: Janie Bartholomew of Avilla, Ginny Babcock of Ocala, Florida, Shirley Wireman of Rensselaer, Jeannie [John] Majchrzak of Grovertown, Kaye Souders of Rensselaer, Pauline DeBoard of Medaryville, Bev [Gene] Westlund of Medaryville, and Vicky [Butch] Caskey of Ligonier; daughter-in-law Joan Stoll of Denham; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister Lydia Kennedy of Winamac; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Romie and Sylvia Grace (Poisel) Chamness; husband Albert Joseph Stoll; sons: Marvin “Butch” Stoll and Joseph “Joey” Stoll; sons-in-law: Jack Bartholomew, Ray Babcock, Larry Wireman and Paul DeBoard; infant grandson David Komon; great-granddaughter Jessica Sayler; infant great-grandson Keaton Ganin; sisters: Elsie Kersey, Ruth Garling and Dorothy Tuley; and brother Arthur “Art” Chamness. 

Visitation was from noon – 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. Rev. Don Nedza officiated. Burial took place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
