Merle Larry Ezra

Merle Larry Ezra, 78, lifelong farmer from Winamac, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 17. 

He was born on Aug. 22, 1943, in Winamac to the late Merle Emory and Wanetta Emaline (Allen) Ezra. Larry graduated from Winamac High School in 1961 and served in the US Army National Guard. He was a member of the Indiana American Legion.

Larry was a hardworking farmer and was very knowledgeable about raising sheep and hogs. For many years, he owned and operated a Christmas tree farm. He enjoyed the outdoors and attending the annual Power Show at the Winamac Town Park. Larry imparted a lot of wisdom to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.   

He is survived by his son Timothy [Kelly Samson] Ezra of Indianapolis; daughter Stephanie [Chad] Watts of Winamac; grandson Benjamin Watts; granddaughter Molly Watts; sisters: Carolyn Knebel of Indianapolis and Betty Shorter of Winamac; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Merle Emory and Wanetta Emaline (Allen) Ezra; brother Bene Franklin Ezra; sister Shirley Peters; brothers-in-law: Loren Knebel and Jim Shorter; and former spouse Geraldine Rose (Lewis) Ezra.

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.    

Burial took place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW conducted military graveside services.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski Animal Center.
