Melvin Clark Miller

Nov. 28, 1934 — June 16, 2016

Master Sgt. Melvin Clark Miller USAF (Ret.), 81, a resident of Esparto, California, passed away at 4:03 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at his residence. Melvin was a native of Indiana and Illinois and recently relocated to California for the warmer weather. 

Melvin was born on Nov. 28, 1934, in Monon, to the late Paul and Alice (Clark) Miller. 

Melvin served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and was a retired flight engineer. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. as well as the VFW and the Retired Enlisted Man’s Association. After retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Melvin worked as a truck driver for 17 years. 

Melvin enjoyed gardening, woodworking and living on the Tippecanoe River. Most recently, he enjoyed the California sunshine. 

Melvin was a member of the Winamac First United Methodist Church and had been a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America.

Melvin was a kind and caring man who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his daughter Julie Anne [Daniel] Kramer of Esparto, California; stepsons: John B. [Dora Hyson] Thatcher of Campbell, California and Don, Ted, Joe and Marc Kirby; stepdaughters: Linda L. [Ronald] Ruff of Mangum, Oklahoma, Janet M. [Nathan] Holden of St. George, Utah, and Carole J. [Dan] Little of Cameron Park, California; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters Wanda Luxton, Mary Edwards and Twylla [Russell] Selmer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul R. and Alice R. (Clark) Miller; first wife Joan M. (Redmond) Miller; second wife Nancy J. (Bowers) Miller; and stepdaughter Susan Hein. 

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Frain Mortuary. Burial with military honors will take place in Osborne Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Memorial contributions may be given to Winamac First United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
