Mary Eleanor Clark

Mary Eleanor Clark, 90, of Medaryville, died Friday, Nov. 25, at the Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville.

Mary was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late A.P. and Ada (Bair) Benjamin. On June 11, 1948, Mary married Eldon Clark in Medaryville. Eldon died on Nov. 9, 1995.

Mary moved from Hamilton to Medaryville when her father became the minister at the Medaryville Christian Church. In 1963 she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s degree in education in 1968 from Valparaiso University. She had worked as an elementary school teacher in North Judson.

Mary was a member of the Medaryville Christian Church and the Indiana State Teachers Association. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing at the church. She would often sing while her husband Eldon showed slides of their many trips. They had traveled to 49 states.

Mary is survived by her sons Dr. L. Ross Clark of Redding, California, and Thomas N. Clark of Fairbanks, Arkansas; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Esther Houston of San Gabriel, California, Lois McCarter of Greenwood, and Ruth Ann Hieronymus of Atlanta, Illinois; and brother Paul Benjamin of Paeonian Springs, Virginia. 

She was proceeded in death by her parents A.P. and Ada (Bair) Benjamin; husband Eldon Clark; and sister Ellen Virginia Benjamin. 

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 2, from 4-8 p.m. at the Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Medaryville Christian Church in Medaryville, with Rev. Don Nedza officiating. Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 3,  in the McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac.
