Martha Jane (Wood) Karsten

Martha Jane (Wood) Karsten, 88, passed away on Sept. 22, after a long and blessed life.

Martha was a Purdue University graduate, avid traveler and great hostess. She was a tireless advocate for her family and friends. Martha played a vital and active role alongside Clare during their 41 years in the ministry. Martha cherished the long list of friends she made throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Clare; son Paul [Sharon]; daughter Janene [John] Heider; grandsons: Jason [Teresa], Bob [Katie], Nick [Whitney], and Joe; granddaughter Erin; great-grandchildren: Cale, Mya, Aiden, Torrey, Hank, Olivia and Ryah; and nieces and nephews in and around Star City.

She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Esther Wood; sister Della Moon; brother Glenn Wood Jr.; an infant son; son Blaine; and great-grandson Jaden.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 11 a.m., at Fairmount Avenue United Methodist Church, 1523 Fairmount Ave., St. Paul, Minnesota, 55105. Luncheon to follow.
