Margarita Cullen

Feb. 22, 1930 — Oct. 30, 2018

Margarita Cullen, 88, of Francesville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Monticello Healthcare Center. 

She was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, on Feb. 22, 1930. She was the daughter of Narciso Baena and Placida Rodriguez. 

Margarita worked hard all her life. She was a housekeeper and had many other jobs. Her dream was to become an American citizen and she obtained her dream in December of 1978. She was compassionate toward others, strong-willed, and very religious. She was born into the Catholic faith, but later in life, she attended the Church of Christ. 

She had a green thumb and loved to garden. Her favorite flowers were roses.

Margarita loved children, especially her grandchildren, Sara and Jonn. They were her pride and joy. 

She is survived by her son Juan “Jonn” [Marilyn] Bernal of Francesville; grandchildren: Sara and Jonn Bernal of Francesville; brother Andres Baena; and sisters: Prisca Baena and Santiago Arenas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leon R. Cullen; one brother; and one sister.

Graveside services at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Augustas Cottage Memory Care at Monticello Healthcare.
