Lowell R. Lindsey

Lowell R. Lindsey, 78, of Hobart, formerly of Winamac, Lake of Four Seasons and Griffith, passed away on Friday, July 3, at his home surrounded by his family.

Lowell was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Highland. He was a former member of the Winamac Church of the Nazarene and the Munster First Church of God.

Lowell retired from Lever Bros. in 1991 after 33 years of service. He enjoyed volunteering at church and in his community, woodworking, fishing, and above all, Lowell was devoted to his family and friends. He encouraged others to donate blood and give “the gift of life” to others. Lowell had and shared many fond memories of playing Santa Claus for many children over the years. He was also a member of the Masters of Harmony Barbershop Men’s Chorus.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years Joyce White Lindsey; children: Richard [Sandy] Lindsey of Highland, Bunnie Lindsey [Harry Jaconis] of Naperville, Illinois, and Gary [Lori] Lindsey of Hobart; grandchildren: Jeremy [Natalie] Halton, Evie Gere [fiance Cameron Lynch], Kimberly [Danny] Labarge, Kayla Lindsey [fiance Keenan Cleary], Nicholas Lindsey, Ryan Butler, Taylor Jaconis, Luke Jaconis, Jacob Lindsey and Connor Lindsey; great-grandchildren Collin and Julia Gere, and Scarlet and Elias Halton; sister Agnes “Bonnie” Van Dyke; brother Norman [Anita] Lindsey; “little brother” Ed [Jan] Hoover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother Clarence and Beulah Lindsey, and by his mother and stepfather Gertrude and Jake Barnes.

Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, July 8, 3-8 p.m., at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Ave., Griffith. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at First Church of the Nazarene in Highland located at 9330 Kennedy Ave., Highland, with Pastor Ron Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.
