Lois Elizabeth Maureen Vollmer, 25, of Winamac, passed away unexpectedly at 5:41 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 17, 1990, in Winamac.

As a child, Lois enjoyed playing baseball in Star City Youth League. She especially enjoyed riding go-carts and three-wheelers with her brothers.

Lois graduated from Winamac Community High School in 2009. While in high school, she enjoyed cheerleading, color guard, choir and spending time with her friends. She was a former member of the Girl Scouts and Sunshine Society.

Lois received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from IUSB in 2014. She had worked at Four County.

Lois enjoyed drag racing with “DD” at Bunker Hill and Osceola Drag Strips. She was a member of the NHRA. She and Don were looking forward to the Race of Champions on Saturday. She will be sadly missed by her racing family.

She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing, playing with her kids, and attending bonfires.

She was fondly known to many as “Lil Mama,” Lulu, and Flo Lo.

Lois was the proud and loving mother of Chandler and Chloie, who were the light of her life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, especially her momma.

Survivors include her children: Chandler and Chloie at home; mother Bea [Don Rausch] Braun of Winamac; father Joe Vollmer of Rochester; siblings: Thomas [Susan Caldwell] Braun, Charles Braun, Lucas Vollmer, Emma Lucille Vollmer and Kegan Gardener; grandmother Lois Vollmer; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; stepsiblings: Jody [Josiah] Klinedest and Tim [Melissa] Ritchie; and boyfriend Joe Shepherd.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Billy and Lillie Smith and Donald Vollmer; and uncles: Lewis Smith and Angelo Smith.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, and one hour prior to services Friday, Oct. 2, at the funeral home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Frain Mortuary with Mark Hines officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home.
