Lillian Jane Vedok

Feb. 10, 1914 — Nov. 15, 2018

Lillian Jane Vedok, 104, of Winamac, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Hickory Creek in Winamac. 

She was born on Feb. 10, 1914, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to the late Irvin and Alice Mae (Hoffman) Oldfield. Lillian married the late John Vedok on Dec. 27, 1930. He passed away on March 19, 1975.

Lillian was a devoted wife and loving mother who loved having her family around her. She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially making her famous nut bread, her apple and cheese strudel and the best fried chicken in the world. 

Lillian will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters: Dorothy A. Kline of Winamac, Elizabeth J. Thompson of Winamac, and Mary A. [David] Thill of Janesville, Wisconsin; son Stephen [Sue] Vedok of Lombard, Illinois; 33 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Irvin and Alice Mae (Hoffman) Oldfield; husband John Vedok; sister Ruth Hewitt; son John Vedok Jr.; daughter Catherine A. Liddicoatt; stepdaughters Lorraine Lockridge, Violet [Norman] Faber and Anna (Edward) Koekenberg; daughters-in-law Wilma Vedok and JoAnn Vedok; stepsons: Michael [Wilda] Vedok Sr. and Joseph Vedok; granddaughter Gail Lynn Pearl; grandson Michael Vedok Jr.; sons-in-law Lloyd H. Kline and Kenneth Thompson; stepsisters: Hazel Smith and Adeline Heeg; and stepbrothers: Joseph Schleteka, Albert Schleteka and Harlow Heeg. 

Visitation was 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services followed at 5 p.m. Pastor Jeff Seger officiated. Private burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Creek Activities Fund.
