Leo E. “Dud” Fox

Dec. 22, 1925 — Sept. 16, 2017

Leo E. “Dud” Fox, 91, of Winamac  (formerly of Star City), passed away at 3:52 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at his home in Winamac.  

He was born on Dec. 22, 1925, in Pulaski, to the late Edward and Stella (Kuhn) Fox.  Leo was a graduate of Pulaski High School and served in the US Army during WWII.  

On May 4, 1946, Leo married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Foerg. She passed away on May 15, 2010.

Leo was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski where he had served as an usher. 

Leo was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards (especially euchre) and woodworking.  He loved grilling and was well-known for his barbeque chicken and homemade Christmas candies. Leo and Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling the world and spending their winters in Okeechobee.  

Leo loved his family very much, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed. 

Survivors include daughters: Elaine K. [Glenn] Holmes-Cobane of Jones, Michigan, Ruth A. [Dale] Fox-Dietrich of Eagle River, Arkansas, Catherine L. [Mike] Reifert of Montgomery Village, Maryland, and Rebecca J. [Richard] Cohrs of New Palestine; sons: John E. [Patricia] Fox of Huntington, and Thomas P. [Jean Ann] Fox of Star City; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Alvin “Red” [Susie] Fox of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Stella Jane (Kuhn) Fox; infant son Robert Fox; son Jeffrey Fox; sisters: Helen Engels, Dorothy “Dotty” Roth, and Rita “Ribs” Fox; and brothers: Robert Fox, Darl “Doc” Fox, and Joseph “Joe” Fox. 

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating.  

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery South in Pulaski. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.

Visitation will be from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.  A scriptural wake service will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kindred Hospice, or American Diabetes Association.
