Larry L. Hooker

Larry L. Hooker, 65, of Francesville, passed away at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 6, at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette.

He was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Winamac, to Lamoine and Emogene (Stamer) Hooker. Larry married Nancy Long on Sept. 29, 1973, in Logansport. Nancy survives.

Larry was a lifelong farmer. He had also worked at the Ball Corporation in Monticello.

He enjoyed playing sports, watching the Cubs, the Bears and the Indiana Hoosiers. Larry was the lead singer in his band, The Referees, in the 1970s. Larry loved music and dancing. He also enjoyed working with his cattle. Larry was an avid card player.

Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a terrific husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Long) Hooker of Francesville; daughters: Kelly [John] Schmicker of Winamac, Nikki [Kory] Scurlock of West Lafayette, and Brandy [Kris] Aschbrenner of Francesville; son Cody [Angie] Hooker of Anderson; four grandsons; four granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; mother Emogene (Stamer) Hooker of Francesville; brother Steve [Robin] Hooker of Monticello; sisters: Lori [Dewayne] Skalon of Francesville, and Anita [Brandon] Burns of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his father Lamoine H. Hooker; and son Gregg Hooker.

Private funeral services will be held at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht, Francesville, with Rev. Judith Doll officiating. 

Burial will be in the Idle Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorial contributions may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville.
