Lamoine H. Hooker

Feb. 23, 1929 — Jan. 1, 2016

Lamoine H. Hooker, 86, of Francesville, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.

Lamoine was born at the family home in Francesville on Feb. 23, 1929, to the late Otto and Julia (Grock) Hooker. Lamoine graduated from Francesville High School in 1947.  

On August 14, 1949, he married Emogene “Jean” Stamer in Francesville. 

Lamoine was a member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville, where he had also served on the church board.

Lamoine was proud to have been a lifelong farmer.  He was a former member of Farm Bureau Co-op.

Lamoine enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He and Jean enjoyed square dancing for many years. Lamoine also enjoyed watching westerns and listening to country music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Emogene “Jean” (Stamer) Hooker of Francesville; sons: Larry [Nancy] Hooker of Francesville, and Steve [Robin] Hooker of Monticello; daughter: Lori [Dewayne] Skalon of Francesville, and Anita [Brandon] Burns of Chicago; granddaughters: Kelly [John] Schmicker, Nikki [Kory] Scurlock, Brandy [Kris] Aschbrenner, Amy [Jeff] Van Wheeldon, Abby Whitaker, Kylie Skalon, Macyn Burns and Kendall Burns; grandsons: Cody [Angie] Hooker, Wyatt [Sonia] Hooker, Matt Whitaker and Thomas [Amber] Skalon; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers: Ron [Lois] Hooker of  Francesville, and Harold [Mary] Hooker of Francesville; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Julia (Grock) Hooker; grandson Greg Hooker; sisters: Ann Brunetti, Opal Hamblin and Blanche Balinson; and brothers: Raymond Hooker and Paul Hooker. 

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesville and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at St. James Salem United Church of Christ, Francesville. Rev. Judith Doll officiated. Burial took place in St. James Salem Cemetery, Francesville.
