Kristina Marie (Pugh) Smith

Kristina Marie (Pugh) Smith, 61, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, April 29, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. 

She was born on Aug. 4, 1960, in Charlotte, Michigan, as the daughter of William Arthur and Marie Eleanor (Archer) Pugh.  

Kris was baptized in the name of the Triune God in 1960 at First Congregational Church of Charlotte, Michigan. She graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1978. She attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute and Purdue University. She graduated with a degree in environmental design in 1982. 

She married Rev. Robert Ernest Smith on August 15, 1987, in Knox. 

She was a member of Our Hope Lutheran Church and served on the school board and the Sunday School Superintendent for several years. Kris also served as a teacher’s aide in the resource room at St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Fort Wayne for many years. She had a passion for children and crafting for others. 

Her twin sons, Wesley and Lucas, were born in Winamac in 1988. Her daughter Hannelore (Smith) Keller  was born in 1991 in Kendallville.

 Kris is survived by her husband, Rev. Robert E. Smith of Fort Wayne; son Wesley [Jenna] and grandson Lincoln; son Lucas [Dr. Rachel], grandsons Tobias and Theodore and granddaughters Phoebe and Eden; daughter Hannelore (Smith) [Rev. Brent] Keller and granddaughters Annalise and Evengeline; sister Rebecca [Phillip]; brother Dana [Cheryl]; brother Kyle [Colleen]; and nieces, nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Marie; brother Corey; and grandchildren Micah-Stacey and Lydia.

Funeral services for Kristina will be held on Saturday, May 7, at Our Hope Lutheran Church, 1826 Trinity Dr., Huntertown, at 10 a.m. with calling 1 hour prior. Calling will also take place at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation, 6557 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne on Friday, May 6, from 4-8 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests preferred memorials in Kristina’s honor be directed to Christian charities and Ministries.
