Kathleen A. “Kathy” Nitzschke-Keller
Kathleen A. “Kathy” Nitzschke-Keller, 47, of Portage, formerly Monterey, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso.
Kathy was born on Sept. 6, 1972, in Winamac, to James R. and Karen (Rafferty) Nitzschke. She graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1991 and attended Ivy Tech in Lafayette. Kathy was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey. She enjoyed cooking, socializing with friends, listening to music and dancing. Most of all, Kathy was a devoted mother to her two daughters.
She is survived by her daughters: Sarah Keller of Monterey, and Karaline Keller of Monterey; mother Karen [Carl] Wampler of Portage; brother Marc Nitzschke of Powell, Ohio; stepbrothers: Terry [Jennifer] Wampler of Valparaiso, Michael Wampler of Melrose, Florida, and Carl J. [Leslie] Wampler of Corona, California; stepsister Kathleen [Brandon] Meyer of North Royalton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; maternal aunts: Jennifer [John] Corns of Lafayette, and Mary Roudebush of Kokomo; paternal uncles: Jerry [Cleta] Poor of Rochester, and George [Jeanette] Nitzschke of Bakersfield, California; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father James R. “Jim” Nitzschke; maternal grandparents Robert and Barbara Rafferty; and paternal grandparents Gilbert and Sylvia Nitzschke.
Visitation was from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Services were held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Rev. Michael McKinney officiated. Private burial took place at a later date at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Kewanna.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Riley Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or in the form of a Mass intention to St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey.
