Junior Howard Lawson

July 18, 1936 — March 31, 2016

Junior Howard Lawson, 79, of Monticello, passed away at his residence Thursday, March 31, at 11:32 a.m.

He was born July 18, 1936, in Monticello, to Lee and Ethel (Wilmoth) Lawson. 

JR was married to Karen L. Riffil on Sept. 27, 1984, in Winamac. Karen passed away on Dec. 15, 2012.

JR was a retired welder for NIPSCO, where he worked for 31 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Church of the Heartland in Logansport.

JR enjoyed spending time with his family, going to church and eating breakfast with his friends. 

Survivors include his sons: Edward [Leann] Lawson of South Bend, and Steve [Bonnie] Lawson of Logansport; daughter Sandy O’Neill of Monticello; stepdaughter Debra [Matthew] March Steiner of Lafayette; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Ethel (Wilmoth) Lawson; wife Karen (Riffil) Lawson; and brother Lewis Lawson. 

Private funeral services will be held at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Pastor Jim Howard and Pastor Herb Hiatt officiating. Private burial will take place in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
