Joseph J. “Joe” Nicolas Jr.

Joseph J. “Joe” Nicolas Jr., 78, of Winamac, passed away at 5:46 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

Joe was born on Oct. 3, 1937, in Monroe Township, Pulaski County, to the late Joseph J. and Agnes (Braun) Nicolas.

He graduated from Francesville High School. Joe was a lifelong farmer in Pulaski County and was retired from Plymouth Tube and Winamac Beverage.

He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a lifetime member of the Winamac Eagles Lodge #2580.

Joe was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed tinkering with building projects.

Joe loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his daughters Denise [Terry] Beckner of Winamac, Kathy [Glen] Zellers of Winamac, Joetta [Dusten] Burns of Winamac, and JC [Josh Bradley] Nicolas of Winamac; son Jim [Maria] Nicolas of Winamac; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Paul [Betty] Nicolas of Indianapolis, and Steve [Linda] Nicolas of Winamac; sister Mary Swartzell of Winamac; several nieces and nephews; three stepchildren; and many stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph J. Sr. and Agnes (Braun) Nicolas; and wives: Clydetta (Fitz) Nicolas and Marjorie (Field) Heintz Nicolas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
