John Albright

Jan. 1, 1944 — July 13, 2020

John Albright, 76, of Lafayette, passed away Monday, July 13, at IU Health Hospital. 

He was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Sharon High School before attending Ball State University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1965. He began his career in finance with Heinold Hog Market and Harold Heinold Personal Interests. He then went on to earn his real estate broker’s license in 1972. He obtained his real estate appraiser’s license in 1991 and became a full-time rural property appraiser. John was very active in the Episcopal church and served as a vestry member at St. Francis Episcopal Church. He was also a very avid reader. 

He is survived by his sons: Jon Pare [Michelle] Albright of Valparaiso, and Christopher James Albright of Ogden Dunes; daughters: Courtney Kendall of Lafayette, and Heather Rudd of Chesterton; siblings: Patricia [Ronald] Schroeder of Pendleton, Harriet [Harold] Reeves of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Alan [Debbie] Albright of Fishers, and Elizabeth [Donald] Engelking of Sugar Land, Texas; sister-in-law Carol Albright of South Bend; grandchildren: Logan Albright, Mackenzie Albright, Kaden Rudd, Ryker Rudd and Courtney Albright; and great-grandchild Karson Garst.

John is preceded in death by his parents William and Harriet Albright of Muncie, and brother William Harry Albright of South Bend.
