Jessie H. Hines

Aug. 12, 1927 — March 7, 2017

Jessie H. Hines, 89, of Royal Center, passed away peacefully at 12:18 a.m., Tuesday, March 7, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.

Born on Aug. 12, 1927, in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late J. Calvin and Rosa (Manes) MacLain.

She was a Kewanna High School graduate.

Jessie married Cecil E. Hines on Aug. 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2000.

She was a homemaker and farmwife. Jessie was a member of Thornhope Community Church and she enjoyed gardening, reading and most of all spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Judy [Tim] Sparks of Peru and Mark [Cindy] Hines of Royal Center; sisters: Ruth [James] Hart of Plymouth, and Emily Brown of Knox; brother Lawrence [Mabel] MacLain of Kewanna; grandchildren: Chandra [Steve] Felker, Charles [Julie] Hines, Eric Hines and Aaron [Farrah] Hines; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son Cecil E. Hines Jr.; daughters: Lois Jean Hines and Susan Hines Moss; brothers: Hugh and Clifford MacLain; and sisters: Mattie Rainey, Blanche Culver, Roxie Fry, Marilyn Zartman, Flo Conley, Gladys Stutzman and Merle Isaacs.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, March 9. Services followed at noon, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel. Pastor David Webb officiated. Burial took place at Thompson Cemetery.
