Janice L. Kain

July 15, 1947 — March 30, 2018

Janice L. Kain, 70, of Medaryville, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Friday, March 30, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. 

Janice was born on July 15, 1947, in Rensselaer, to the late Bert and Eva Mae (Begley) Williams. She was a graduate of Medaryville High School. On May 28, 1965, Janice married the late Thomas R. Kain in Medaryville. She was the former owner of Mott’s Liquor in Medaryville. Janice loved cats, doing crafts and caring for her indoor plants. She also enjoyed cutting and styling hair for others. Janice will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Pulaski Health Care Center for their loving care of Janice.

She is survived by her sisters: Lois [Chuck] Baird of Santa Barbara, California, and Cathy Wilhelm of Logansport; brothers-in-law: Jim [Jackie] Kain of Medaryville, and Dan Kain of Medaryville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Eva Mae (Begley) Williams; husband Thomas L. Kain; sisters: Brenda Buckalew and Phyllis Williams; brother-in-law Mike Wilhelm; sister-in-law Sue Kain; nephew Uriah Dobson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Ralph and Blanche Kain. 

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville, with Rev. Thomas Dewlen officiating. Burial will take place at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville.
