Janice A. “Jan” Grubbs

Janice A. “Jan” Grubbs, 66, of Winamac, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. 

Jan was born on Oct. 25, 1953, in La Porte, to the late Elgy and Mary Irene (Dolan) Lawton. She graduated from North Liberty High School in 1972. On March 7, 1973, Jan married the love of her life, James L. “Jim” Grubbs, in Knox. 

Jan was retired from Sanders where she worked in the deli for 24 years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and adult coloring books. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo as well as going to the casino. Jan loved her family very much, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by her husband James L. “Jim” Grubbs of Winamac; son Edward L. “Ed” [Kylie] Grubbs of Star City; daughter Michelle A. [Brian] Browning of Star City; granddaughters: Cierra Grubbs, Ashlee Grubbs and Olivia Browning; grandson Hunter Browning; great-granddaughter Harlow Titus; sisters: Gracie Clapper and Jeanne Davis; brothers: James Lawton, Alfred Lawton, Vernon Lawton and George Lawton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elgy and Mary Irene (Dolan) Lawton; and sister Patty Lawton.
