Jackie Lee “Jack” Shoemaker, 78, of Logansport, (formerly of Star City, and Kewanna) passed away at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport. 

Jack was born on April 25, 1938, in Andrews, to the late Franklin and Mary Shoemaker. 

In 1956, Jack joined the U.S. Army and while in service he received his GED from the Armed Forces Institute. He was a lifelong truck driver. In 1971, Jack received a Gas and Arc Welding diploma from Lewis Cass High School.

Jack was a member of the Catholic faith. 

Jack was a former Eagle Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He was also a former member of the Tipton Lodge 33 F&AM. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. Jack was also a member of Moose Lodge 232, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2580, American Legion 60, and VFW Men’s Auxiliary 3790. 

Jack was a competitive shooter and marksman. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and horseback riding.

Jack will be missed. 

Survivors include his daughters: April Koons of  Logansport, Deanna Lee [Jim] Marling of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Mary Francis [Butch] Fox of Spokane, Washington; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin A. and Mary Lucille (Brown) Shoemaker; wife Patsy Ann (Roth) Shoemaker; and sister Sharon Rebecca Hershberger.

Funeral services took place at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiated. The American Legion and VFW conducted full military honors at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery South, Pulaski.

Memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
