Hubert M. Hoover

Hubert M. Hoover, 62, of Winamac, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 1. 

Hubert was born on May 15, 1954, in Logansport, to Bill and Pauline Hoover. On May 22, 1993, Hubert married Shirley Duyag in Dumangas, Philippines. She survives.

Hubert served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 2002. 

Hubert enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was a member of HOG. He was a fisherman and a sportsman.

Hubert was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He will be sadly missed. 

He is survived by his wife Shirley (Duyag) Hoover of Winamac; son Hubert G. Hoover of Winamac; daughter Leean C. Hoover of Winamac; parents William Hubert “Bill” and Pauline Mae Rose Hoover of Winamac; sisters: Laura [Daryn] Wilder, Mary [Craig] Fosnaugh and Twila [Joe] Slomka; brother Robert Hoover; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by infant brothers: Richard Creed Hoover and William Harvey Hoover. 

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. CDR David Stanton, USN (Retired) officiated. Burial took place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW conducted military graveside services.
