Harlen E. “Harley” Tomlinson

Harlen Eugene “Harley” Tomlinson, 82, of Monticello, formerly of Monon, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 20. He passed away at Monticello Healthcare. 

Harlen was born on Feb. 5, 1936, in Logansport, to the late George and Loda (Sherman) Tomlinson. He married Phyllis Fritz on Aug. 5, 1963, in Winamac. Phyllis survives. 

Harley served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Harley was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Harley was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a graduate of Pulaski High School in 1954 and Liberty Bible College. Harley attended Tri-County Bible Church in Remington.

Harley enjoyed woodworking, fishing and working outside in the yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife Phyllis (Fritz) Tomlinson of Monticello; son Harlen Ray [Amber] Tomlinson of Rensselaer; daughter Lori [Thomas] Harper of New Castle; granddaughters: Cheyenne [Rob] Golik of Monon, Calla Tomlinson of Rensselaer, and Kate Tomlinson of Rensselaer; grandson: Timothy Breen of West Lafayette; stepgrandsons: Timothy [Maddy] McAlister of Fort Wayne, and Coy McAlister of Springfield, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Madison, Jayden, Bentley and Caylee; sister Clara Sue Adams of Rensselaer; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Loda (Sherman) Tomlinson; sister Bonnie Connell; brothers: Harold Tomlinson and Howard Tomlinson; and an infant brother. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Military services will be held at the funeral home following the service. Entombment will be in Roseland Cemetery at a later date.
