Gregory M. “Greg” Plowman

May 11, 1954 — May 13, 2025

Gregory Mark “Greg” Plowman, 71, of Winamac, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13, at his home. 

He was born on May 11, 1954 in Hammond, to the late Virgil R. and Doris J. (Keller-Horton) Plowman and attended school in Griffith. Greg joined the US Marine Corps in 1972 and served during the Vietnam War. After returning home from service, he became a proud member of the Boilermakers Union Local #374 in Hammond. He retired in 2012. Greg was a talented cook and enjoyed the outdoors and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include son Larry Gregory [Mary Lee Patt] Plowman Kryck, Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers: Stephen [Penny] Plowman, Lake Bruce and Bruce [Iris] Plowman, Lake Bruce; sister Lisa [Paul] Altman, Winamac; nephews: John [Brittney] Plowman and Sam Hinkle; nieces: Misti [Heath] Hiatt and Rachel Plowman; several great-nieces and nephews; and adopted daughter Crystal Miller. 

Preceded in death by parents: Virgil R. and Doris J. (Keller-Horton) Plowman.

Cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24 at the First Baptist Church in Winamac with Pastor Mark Pilger officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion and VFW.

Private burial will take place at Black Pond Cemetery in Oregon County, Missouri.
