Glenn Wood Jr.

March 28, 1931 — March 11, 2015

Glenn Wood Jr., 83, of Star City, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.

He was born March 28, 1931, in Star City, to Glenn and Esther (Boose) Wood Sr.

Glenn lived most of his life near Star City. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1949. He attended Indiana University and then Purdue University, where he graduated in 1957. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Social Fraternity and Alpha Zeta Honorary Fraternity at Purdue.

After graduation, he returned to the family farm where he was born. He was also engaged in a small business (Wood Sales, Inc.) selling grain storage, drying and handling equipment.

He was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church where he served for a number of years as the church organist and in many other capacities.

He was also a 4-H leader for many years.

Mr. Wood also traveled extensively in many areas of the world.

Survivors include his sister Martha [Clare] Karsten of St. Paul, Minnesota; nephews: Aaron Moon of Star City, Joe Moon of Winamac, Carl Moon of York, Pennsylvania, and Paul Karsten of St. Paul, Minnesota; and nieces: Teresa Shaver of Kewanna, Sharon Glasson of Logansport, and Janene Heider of St. Paul, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Esther (Boose) Wood Sr.; sister Della Moon; and nephews: Marshall Moon and Blane Karsten.

Visitation was after noon, Sunday, March 15, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 15, at Frain Mortuary. David Sommers officiated. Burial took place in Star City West Cemetery, Star City.

Memorial contributions may be given to Star City United Methodist Church, Star City West Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
