Frederick W. Fishtorn

Frederick W. “Fred” Fishtorn, 36, of Winamac, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8.

He was born on March 20, 1979, in Hammond, to Dale and Virginia (Pugh) Fishtorn.

Fred married Jennifer Young on May 15, 2006, in Rochester. She survives.

After graduating from Winamac Community High School in 1998, Fred joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Iraq War. He was a member of the Winamac VFW Post #1728.

Fred was a member of the Star City Volunteer Fire Department.

Fred was a man of many talents. He had been a jailer and jail commander at the Pulaski County Jail. He had worked for Hoover Construction in Star City, as well as Magnetation LLC in Reynolds, and he was currently employed as a superintendent at HTH Companies in Lafayette.

Fred enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved his family very much and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer M. (Young) Fishtorn of Winamac; daughters: Kayla L. Fishtorn of Rensselaer, Nikole E. Fishtorn of Winamac, and Kira F. Fishtorn of Winamac; son: Khayle F. Fishtorn of Winamac; stepdaughter Keelin R. Baumgardner of Ft. Wayne; stepson Kaiden R. Baumgardner of Monticello; parents Dale and Virginia Pugh Fishtorn of Englewood, Florida; sister Phoebe Morris of Monticello; brother Daniel [Abbey] Fishtorn of Youngstown, Ohio; maternal grandmother Phyllis Pugh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather William Pugh; and paternal grandparents George and Martha Fishtorn.

Arrangements are pending at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
