Frank D. Rowe

Frank D. Rowe, 89, of San Pierre, formerly of Pulaski County, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at his residence in San Pierre. 

Frank was born on June 30, 1927, in Medaryville, to Cecil H. and Adeline Moore Rowe.

Frank lived for 68 years in Medaryville, and 15 years in Winamac, before moving to Rensselaer in 2010. He was a 1945 graduate of Medaryville High School. He also attended Ball State University. Frank married Jean Redlich on Aug. 31, 1959, in Monterey. Jean died on Nov. 4, 1998. He then married Barbara Hilton Luchene on Feb. 29, 2000, in McCormick, South Carolina. Barbara survives. 

Frank proudly served as a Private First Class (PFC) in the U.S. Army, 68th Engineer Depot Company during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #399 in Monterey. Frank was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He retired from the Budd Company in Gary. After retirement Frank worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Rensselaer. Frank enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years and all sports throughout his life. He was an avid Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife Barbara E. Rowe of San Pierre; son Frank D. [Jo Ellen] Rowe Jr. of Morgantown; daughter Beverly A. [Larry] Salrin of Wheatfield; stepson Dennis E. [Peggy] Luchene of Hebron; stepdaughter Dawn [Roy] Deardurff of Rensselaer; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; bother Richard D. [Anne] Rowe of Merrillville; and sister Carol Sue Zehner of Mishawaka. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil H. and Adeline (Moore) Rowe; first wife Jean (Redlich) Rowe; and sisters: Bonnie Allen, Beverly Rowe and Jean Strang. 

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel Medaryville, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Christian Church in San Pierre, with Minister Russell Tague officiating. Burial will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

Memorials may be given to the Christian Church of San Pierre or to AseraCare Hospice of Valparaiso.
