Estelle M. Galbreath

Estelle M. Galbreath, 98, of Royal Center, died on Nov. 8, at IU Health Hospital in Lafayette. 

She was born on Oct. 14, 1922, in Chicago, to the late Kost and Vera Mitrus. Estelle graduated from Winamac High School and attended nursing school in Indianapolis. On Nov. 15, 1953, she married Herbert E. Galbreath, who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2005.

Estelle was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Organizer and a 4-H Leader and council member. Estelle was a past president of the Star City American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter Dr. Sharon [Jack] Mellor of Pittman Center, Tennessee; son Herbert L. [Donna] Galbreath of Royal Center; granddaughters: Jessica Galbreath of Royal Center, Ashley [fiancee: Austin Harmon] Galbreath of Royal Center, and Megan Galbreath of Royal Center. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Kost and Vera Mitrus; and husband Herbert E. Galbreath. 

Private graveside services will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac, with Rev. Andrew DeKeyser officiating. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
