Edward Duane Risner
Edward Duane Risner, 75, of Medaryville, lost his battle with cancer at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at his residence in Medaryville, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 1, 1941, in Winamac, to the late Fred and Dora (Jackson) Risner. On Feb. 23, 1963, he married Marlene F. Harris in Las Vegas, Nevada. Edward met Marlene in 1960 while serving in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California. Edward served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 until 1964.
Edward was a member of the Medaryville Christian Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Edward also enjoyed working on old tractors and traveling. He especially enjoyed visiting and playing games with his family and friends.
Edward was a diesel mechanic. He retired from Castongia’s John Deere in DeMotte.
He is survived by his wife Marlene F. Risner of Medaryville; sons: Edward Duane [Shelly] Risner II of Chesterton and Raymond Eugene [Jeri Chapman] Risner of Medaryville; daughters: Mitzi [Kenny Waibel] Risner of Goodland; and Anastacia [Steve] Smith of Santa Monica, California; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Ralph Eugene [Sue] Risner of Medaryville, and Hank [Alvina] Risner of Medaryville; and sister Norma Jean [Earl] Clark of Argos.
Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Medaryville Christian Church in Medaryville. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the church. Don Nedza officiated. Burial took place at the White Post Cemetery in Medaryville. Military graveside services were conducted.
