Edward “Ed” Rose

Edward “Ed” Rose, 86, of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7. 

He was born in Starke County, on Sept. 30, 1934, to Rudolph and Mollie (Rater) Rose Sr. He married Shirley A. Roth on May 25, 1974, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Frankfort. She passed away on Feb. 15, 2019.

Ed had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was employed as a truck driver for more than 50 years as an owner/operator and was known on the CB Radio as “Sure Shot.” He enjoyed fishing and was an expert deer hunter, and euchre and pinochle player. Ed enjoyed gardening and if he found a seed, he planted it. He made every life he touched better, and was the best husband, dad and friend anyone could hope for.

Ed is survived by his daughters: Cheryl [Jeff] Copeland of Driggs, Idaho, Shannon [Chris] Coomer of Frankfort, and Stacey Rose of Orlando, Florida; sons: Steven [Janice] Rose of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, David [Brenda] Rose of Tieton, Washington, Dennis [Valerie] Rose of New Market, Norman Rose of Firth, Idaho, and Douglas [Michelle] Rose of Frankfort; mother-in-law Anna Roth of Frankfort; brothers: Charles Rose and Rudolph “Rudy” Rose Jr., of Winamac, and James [Bertha] Rose of North Judson; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and “Sammy” his beloved teacup Yorkie.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife and parents.

A live-stream memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Shan Sheridan will officiate.  The service will be available for viewing at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
