Edith I. Mikesell

Edith I. Mikesell, 74, of Kewanna, passed away peacefully at 5:51 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at home surrounded by her family.

Born on Jan. 5, 1944, in Deputy, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Robert William and Belle (Smith) Sage.

Edith retired from Rochester Metal Products where she worked for more than 15 years. She was an avid reader, quilting in her younger years and she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren most of all.

Survivors include her children: Timothy Mikesell of Kewanna, Todd Mikesell of Sumter, South Carolina, Robin [John] Gould of Star City, Troy [Sharon] Mikesell of Athens, Rhonda Vanderwall of Kewanna, Tracey [Danielle] Mikesell of Merrillville, and Terry Mikesell of Logansport; sisters: Bernice Coppage of Madison and Mary Barrett of Deputy; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by sisters: Edna May Williams and Ruth Ellen Sage; and brothers: George, Robert Jr., David, Harold “Jim” and Ivan Lester Sage.

A celebration of life service was at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel. Visitation was 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Citizens IOOF Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley’s Children Hospital and/or Wounded Warrior association.
