Dorothy Rose Hoekstra

June 30, 1936 — May 1, 2018

Dorothy Rose Hoekstra, 81, of Winamac, passed away on May 1, at her residence. 

Dorothy was born on June 30, 1936, in Hackensack, New Jersey, to Peter R. and Myrtle R. Allen. A Milford resident from 1987 through 2011, she attended Wawasee Community Bible Church. She also attended the Nazarene Church in Winamac for the last several years. Prior to moving to Milford, Dorothy resided in New York, New Jersey, and the east coast area for 51 years.

Dorothy was employed with Vestment Company in sportswear and ladies fashion and modeling. She was also a certified paralegal. She enjoyed singing with Albert Miller’s Christian Band, sewing, making crafts and playing the organ.

Dorothy is survived by her son Thomas [Beverly] Bachota of Winamac; grandchildren: Hannah Bachota of Osceola, Troy [Synde] Hamman of El Paso, Texas, and Brittni [Michael] Lovelace of Chicago; five great-grandchildren; brother Ronald [Marlene] Allen of Port Jervis, New York; two nieces; two nephews; and one great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Gerardo Palaia; husband Chester Bachota; husband Charles Hoekstra; and two grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held at Milford Cemetery on Saturday, May 5.
